Every BOQ rate is built from four blocks: material at delivered cost including wastage, labour from the standard output per day, plant and tools, and then overhead and profit as percentages on the direct cost.
CPWD analysis of rates adds 15% for contractor's overhead and profit combined; competitive private tenders typically split it as 8–10% overhead and 8–12% profit depending on risk and payment terms.
Keep GST outside the rate unless the tender explicitly asks for an inclusive quote. Mixing tax into the item rate makes comparison across bidders impossible and complicates variation pricing.
Treat every output as an indicative pre-tender estimate. Site conditions, wastage allowances, specification changes and local market rates all move the final figure, so validate against your drawings and approved rate analysis before procurement.
